about

Wiltshire police is split into eight Community Policing Teams (CPTs). Each CPT is led by an inspector and made up of sergeants, PCs, PCSOs and is supported by additional officers from the wider area to help serve the community and help keep you safe.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Non dwelling burglaries

    Issued 07 September 2023

    Action taken:

Whilst we have seen a significant reduction in reported non-dwelling burglaries across the area, we have continued to carry out a number of proactive operations throughout 2022, with our colleagues from Dorset, Hampshire and BPT Police.

These proactive operations will continue as we head into 2023, to disrupt possible offending and gathering intelligence where possible.

  • Priority:

    Community Speed Watch

    Issued 07 September 2023

    Action taken:

Speed Enforcement caught 21 vehicles speeding on a recent speeding awareness exercise within the local area.

The roads used for the exercise were clearly signposted with a 30mph speed limit and there is also a Speed Indicator Device (SID), clearly displaying the speed of incoming vehicles and therefore giving them plenty of time to slow down.

The latter has definitely had some effect as it was clear that, on the whole, drivers were aware of the change in road speed and adjusted to it. However, despite the measures put in place, the fastest vehicle captured still managed to achieve 47mph.

Depending on previous convictions and history, 14 drivers will be offered a speed awareness course and 7 drivers will be given £100 fine and receive 3 penalty points.

Proceedings will now be undertaken to ensure the most appropriate outcome for the offenders takes place.

  • Priority:

    School Visits

    Issued 07 September 2023

    Action taken:

The local policing team will be conducting regular schools visits and will continue to deliver schools talks on topics such as dangers of drug use, knife crime and Anti-Social Behaviour.

    Actioned 07 September 2023

  • Priority:

    Vulnerability Patrols / Closure Notices

    Issued 07 September 2023

    Action taken:

Officers conduct regular visits to our identified vulnerable people to both reassure them following reported concerns and to deter visits by criminals who wish to exploit them. We have been working closely with Wiltshire Council Housing on evidence to support several injunctions which we have now got in place. These premises are visited regularly by the teams to provide support to those who are most vulnerable and will be visited going further into 2023.

    Actioned 07 September 2023
