Special Constables are volunteer officers who have the same powers and responsibilities as regular officers and are highly trained in playing an essential role in preventing, reducing and tackling crime and keeping the communities of Wiltshire safe.
Being a Special Constable means investigating crimes, dealing with violence or public order incidents, helping to find missing persons, attending the scenes of road traffic collisions and many other incidents that regular officers are involved in.
Whatever you do as a Special Constable, you will be helping victims of crime, the vulnerable and helping to keep Wiltshire one of the safest places to live.
If you feel you have what it takes to be a Special Constable, can give up at least 16 hours a month and would like to give back to your community doing one of the most rewarding volunteer roles there is, we want to hear from you.
To be eligible to become a Special Constable the basic requirements you must meet are:

In person awareness events are being held at Wiltshire Police Headquarters on:
- Saturday 20th June 10am
- Tuesday 30th June at 6.30pm

ESP- Employer Supported Policing
The Employer Supported Policing (ESP) Scheme is a great way for employers to play their part in making their local communities safer by releasing employees to volunteer.
It is a national scheme owned by the Home Office. It is a partnership benefitting employers, their staff and the police service by releasing Special Constables and Police Support Volunteers to volunteer in policing.
