Sometimes vulnerable people living with dementia can become disorientated whilst out and about with family, or go walk about from their home address. A number of people who are living with dementia continue to lead independent lives, going out shopping and seeing friends, but sometimes they can get lost or misremember where they live.
We are supporting the Wiltshire Bobby Van, Alzheimer’s Support, and Carer Support Wiltshire’s offer of dementia safeguarding wristbands to provide an additional level of reassurance to relatives and carers, as well as the individual living with dementia.
The wristbands contain a secure, programmable chip that can be written and scanned by an Android or iOS enabled phone, with key information about the wearer and their next of kin, so if they do go walk about, or get lost, or go missing their relatives and carers can be quickly notified and reunited.
They do not contain any GPS or tracking technology, or an alarm.
The wristbands are available free of charge through the Bobby Van, Alzheimer’s Support, and Carer Support Wiltshire using the referral form below.
If you are concerned for the whereabouts of your loved one living with dementia then still call 999 immediately; you won't be criticised for calling the police if you are worried about a person's safety. When you call the police tell them that they also have a dementia safeguarding wristband.
