People travelling to Wiltshire for the Summer Solstice are being urged to plan ahead to ensure they are able to mark the occasion safely and responsibly.
The Solstice will take place overnight from tonight (20/06) until sunrise tomorrow (21/06), and we are working hard to ensure public safety and collaborative efforts with partners to facilitate a smooth and secure event for those planning to attend.
We are keen to keep our community informed about any potential impacts of traffic plans to manage the events. Please take note of the following road closures:
Superintendent Doug Downing, of Wiltshire Police, said: "We know that Summer Solstice is a very important date in the calendar for many people who will be planning to travel to Wiltshire to mark the occasion.
"The safety of all attendees is of paramount concern to us. We would urge everyone to act responsibly and enjoy the Summer Solstice in a safe and positive way.
“Please make sure you are aware of any parking restrictions, road closures and travel plans in advance to minimise disruption for yourself and other attendees.”
Police officers will be present throughout the event, working diligently to maintain security and provide assistance as needed.
For more detailed information about road closures, please visit the Wiltshire Council's official website, where you can find the most up-to-date information.
For information on the events, you can visit the websites and social media accounts of both English Heritage and the National Trust.
