Inspector Pete Foster is the Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Chippenham, Calne, and Corsham, covering both the towns and surrounding rural areas. He has held this role since January 2024.

Pete joined Wiltshire Police in March 2007 and has served in a variety of frontline and leadership roles, including Response and Neighbourhood Policing as both a Police Constable and Sergeant in Swindon, as well as time spent in Custody. He also worked as a Force Incident Manager in the Crime and Communication Centre in Devizes and is a qualified Tactical Firearms Commander.

With extensive experience in neighbourhood policing at all levels: PC, Sergeant, and now Inspector, Pete brings a strong understanding of community engagement, long-term problem solving, and safeguarding.

He leads a dedicated team of Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers focused on protecting the vulnerable, reducing harm, and building safer, more connected communities.

Jamie Ball is the Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant for the town of Chippenham, a position he has held for the past three years. With 22 years of service in Wiltshire Police, Jamie has dedicated the majority of his career to frontline, uniformed roles across the Chippenham, Malmesbury, and Royal Wootton Bassett policing areas. Known for his commitment to community safety and visible policing, Jamie is a familiar and trusted presence in the local area.

In addition to his core duties, Jamie holds an ancillary role as a Counter Terrorism Licensed Search Officer. This specialist role has seen him seconded to major national events, including the G7 Summit in Cornwall and the UEFA Champions League Final in Cardiff, contributing to high-level security operations.

Jamie works in close partnership with Chippenham Town Council, the Local Area Board, and the local authority to tackle issues that matter most to residents. He is passionate about building strong community relationships and ensuring local policing remains responsive, visible, and effective in meeting the needs of the town.

Aimee Jenkins
Police Constable

PC Jess Swanborough is a Neighbourhood Officer serving Chippenham and its surrounding rural communities and villages. She has been a Police Officer for 12 years and previously worked as a Detention Officer in the Custody Unit for four years.

In her role, Jess actively engages with local parish councils, schools, housing associations, and licensed premises through initiatives such as Pubwatch. She is dedicated to reducing crime, promoting safety, and providing reassurance to the public.

Paul Croft
Police Constable

PCSO Barbara Young began her career with Wiltshire Police in January 1998 as a Police Traffic Warden based in Malmesbury, a role she held for seven years. Following the decriminalisation of parking enforcement in 2004, she transitioned into the role of Police Community Support Officer—making her the longest-serving member of her team.

Barbara has spent the majority of her service based in Chippenham, with a brief period covering the Corsham Rural area. Her current responsibilities include Chippenham Town Centre, Pewsham, and the surrounding areas.

As part of her role, she works closely with local shops and businesses, utilising tools such as the store-net radio system and CCTV to support crime prevention and community safety. Barbara is also actively involved with the Rough Sleeper Team and the local homeless hostel. She takes great pride in her ability to engage with and support some of the more hard-to-reach members of the community.

Police Community Support Officer Laura Maplesden is a member Chippenham Neighbourhood Policing Team, where she covers Chippenham Town Centre and Pewsham. She began her career with Wiltshire Police in 2019, initially serving the community in Royal Wootton Bassett until October 2022.

In her current role, Laura works closely with local schools and housing agencies to respond to community concerns and enhance public safety. She is particularly passionate about engaging with young people in the area, regularly visiting primary and secondary schools to build positive relationships and liaise with safeguarding leads and head teachers.

Laura also enjoys gathering and developing intelligence to support her Police Constable colleagues, contributing to the wider efforts of crime prevention and community reassurance.

PCSO Cunningham is part of the Chippenham Neighbourhood Policing Team. She covers all areas including the town centre and surrounding rural villages.

She has been working as a PCSO since 2020 and started her career in North Swindon and moved to Chippenham after 2 years.

She works alongside the primary schools in my area, providing support when needed and giving educational talks to year groups about relevant subjects. She also runs a Mini Police Scheme where pupils get to take an oath and take part in sessions about different policing areas.

She like to be involved in different ways to promote a safer place to live in, including regular community events, ASB Hotspot patrols and attending local organised events.
