Chippenham Rural

Inspector Pete Foster is the Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Chippenham, Calne, and Corsham, covering both the towns and surrounding rural areas. He has held this role since January 2024.

Pete joined Wiltshire Police in March 2007 and has served in a variety of frontline and leadership roles, including Response and Neighbourhood Policing as both a Police Constable and Sergeant in Swindon, as well as time spent in Custody. He also worked as a Force Incident Manager in the Crime and Communication Centre in Devizes and is a qualified Tactical Firearms Commander.

With extensive experience in neighbourhood policing at all levels: PC, Sergeant, and now Inspector, Pete brings a strong understanding of community engagement, long-term problem solving, and safeguarding.

He leads a dedicated team of Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers focused on protecting the vulnerable, reducing harm, and building safer, more connected communities.

Sergeant Mike Tripp is the Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant for Corsham and Calne, bringing 24 years of dedicated service with Wiltshire Police. For the past three years, he has been a key member of the Neighbourhood Policing Team, where his focus on community engagement and problem-solving has made a meaningful difference.

Throughout his career, Mike has served exclusively in frontline roles, gaining extensive experience across Malmesbury, Royal Wootton Bassett, and Swindon. His hands-on approach and deep understanding of local issues have shaped his commitment to effective, community-based policing.

Mike is passionate about Neighbourhood Policing and values the strong partnerships he has built with local agencies and organisations. He believes that collaboration is essential to tackling issues, reducing crime, and improving the quality of life for residents. Mike takes pride in being visible, approachable, and proactive in addressing the needs of the communities he serves.

With a focus on building trust and maintaining strong community links, Mike continues to work closely with partner agencies to ensure that local concerns are heard and addressed. His experience and commitment play a vital role in delivering policing that truly reflects and supports the people of Corsham and Calne.

Chris has served with Wiltshire Police for the past three years and joins Chippenham NPT from Trowbridge, where he has spent the majority of his policing career on the response policing team.

Chris is a highly proactive officer, widely recognised for leading a number of successful, high-profile drugs investigations. His work has directly disrupted organised crime groups operating in the Wiltshire area and made a lasting impact on community safety.

Now based in Chippenham, Chris is eager to engage with local residents and tackle the issues that matter most to our community. As a Neighbourhood Police Officer, he will cover the whole of Chippenham, with specific responsibility for the Chippenham Town North East patch.

Chris looks forward to working alongside local partners and members of the public to keep Chippenham a safe and welcoming place for all.

PC Hayley Hardie began her policing career in Chippenham in 2001, where she spent two years before being deployed to Royal Wootton Bassett.

During her 24 years serving the local community, Hayley has become a familiar and respected officer, known for her commitment to neighbourhood policing and her approachable nature.

In addition to her frontline work, Hayley has specialised within the Police Support Unit (PSU) and served as Wiltshire Police’s Search Tactical Lead, demonstrating her depth of operational expertise and leadership. Throughout her career, she has also tutored numerous new officers, sharing her experience and passion for community policing with the next generation.

Hayley now returns to Chippenham, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of neighbourhood policing. She is eager to meet as many members of the community as possible, working closely with local schools and community groups.

She welcomes contact from residents wishing to arrange a visit or discuss local policing matters.

PC Jess Swanborough is a Neighbourhood Officer serving Chippenham and its surrounding rural communities and villages. She has been a Police Officer for 12 years and previously worked as a Detention Officer in the Custody Unit for four years.

In her role, Jess actively engages with local parish councils, schools, housing associations, and licensed premises through initiatives such as Pubwatch. She is dedicated to reducing crime, promoting safety, and providing reassurance to the public.
