Teenage girl dies in collision near Bushton

A 16-year-old girl has sadly died following a road traffic collision southwest of Bushton yesterday evening (29/08).

At around 9.45pm, we responded to a single vehicle collision involving a Renault Clio on an unnamed rural road between Bushton and Hilmarton.

A rear passenger in the vehicle, a 16-year-old girl from Royal Wootton Bassett, was declared dead at the scene.

Her next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this tragic time.

The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving and has been taken into custody.

A road closure remains in place at the scene while further enquiries are carried out.
