Several building sites in Ludgershall and Tidworth were visited by our officers yesterday (13/07) as part of Operation Aidant - a nationally co-ordinated campaign focusing on modern slavery and human trafficking.
The visits were co-ordinated by PCSO Rupinder Kaur and PCSO Chloe Perry, and every site was found to be ‘all in order’ with advice given around vulnerability, exploitation, and modern slavery.
PCSO Rupinder Kaur said: “Our planned day visiting construction sites was an extremely successful one with every site being found to have its paperwork and business in order.
“Our checks were part of two weeks of work across the county under Operation Aidant aimed at ensuring that employees were working legally and being treated appropriately.
“As a force we will always clamp down on employers breaching laws regarding immigration and employees’ rights.
“It is the responsibility of all business owners to check the immigration status of those being hired.”
If you have information about a suspected modern slavery and human trafficking crime please contact us via our website here: Report a crime | Wiltshire Police or call us on 101, or 999 in an emergency.
