The role of English language educational mentors is one that will assist all of our internal candidates that struggle with not just written and spoken English but also with the general report writing skills required to be a police officer or work within the policing field.

The volunteer will be flexible in the needs of the individuals they are allocated to. Some staff will require general file building support from volunteers either internally or externally and this will not require training qualifications in teaching.

Other employees will require more training and help with written English which will of require people to have training qualifications.

The volunteer will meet the candidate and have a face to face meeting in order to obtain a clear action plan on what is needed from the individual and then an action plan and an agreed timeframe will be made.

Main responsibilities

  • Producing documentation for study
  • Marking work produced
  • Setting coursework
  • Power point presentations for delivery
