Detention officers are part of the custody team, working alongside police officers and police staff.
They are responsible for the provision of custody services, administrative duties and the welfare of people detained in custody.
They ensure the efficient operation of the custody unit within the guidelines of authorised professional practice and the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.
Experience of work in a similar nature would also be a distinct advantage but not essential.
Training is provided and successful applicants must be available for an up to 3 week training, course depending on previous experience and qualifications, which may be delivered in Swindon, Melksham, Devizes or virtually.
The next training date starts: September 2023
Any roles will be subject to the passing of vetting and references check. There may be a requirement to undergo a driving assessment by our Force Driver Training Unit so that police vehicles can be driven.
