Business Crime Action Week 2023 runs from 16 October. This year we will be concentrating on retail crime with a particular emphasis on the prevention of shoplifting.
The Safer Business Action Week 2023 runs from 16 to 22 October. This is a national initiative coordinated by the National Business Crime Centre and supported by the Police and partners within the retail sector.
The week focuses on activities to tackle business crime through prevention, intelligence sharing, targeted enforcement and community engagement.
In a recent British Retail Consortium Crime Survey it was reported that the total cost of retail crime stood at £1.76 billion in 2021/22 with £953 million lost to customer theft and eight million incidents of theft over the year.
Between September 2022 and August 2023 there have been over 4000 reports of shoplifting in Wiltshire and Swindon.
