He was subsequently promoted to Sgt covering the centre of Swindon and later transferred to the Swindon Roads Policing Unit. Promotion to Inspector saw him carrying out the Force Duty Inspector role covering North and mid Wiltshire.
He later became the Sector Head based at Royal Wootton Bassett. During his time here, he instigated the policing of the military repatriations from RAF Lyneham.
He then transferred to Police HQ managing the Force Specialist Operations Department. His last couple of years’ service were working as the T/Chief Inspector on the Force Resourcing Project.
Following 30 years of policing duties he took up the post of Force Resourcing Manager and later the Deputy Head of Transformation. He has been actively involved in the establishment of the Force ICT Department.
He lives in Wiltshire with his wife and family and his interests are renovating classic vehicles and managing a small holding. He is the secretary of the Emergency Services Charity Show which he helped to form in 2005
