As A D/Insp, he served on the Regional Organised Crime Unit as head of an operations team and spent periods of temporary promotion as head of the Regional Operations teams, criminal finance teams and Regional Cyber Crime Unit.
During this period he was on occasions deployed abroad in investigations including Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking as well as class A drug importations in countries including Romania, Slovenia and Jamaica.
Jim served on the regional collaboration covering Wiltshire, Avon and Somerset and Gloucestershire for Major Crime as both a Detective Inspector and Detective Chief Inspector.
As a Senior Investigating officer he led the team in the investigation of the murder of Ellie Gould, a 17 year old girl from Calne.
He is qualified as a PIP3 homicide investigator and is one of a handful of PIP4 Senior Investigators within the South West region, which qualifies him in the strategic management of complex and serious crime.
In his private time, he enjoys travelling and football. He is married and has two children.
