In 2022, HMICFRS conducted an inspection of Wiltshire Police in line with their programme of scrutiny. Their report, ‘Police Effectiveness, Efficiency and Legitimacy’, in July 2022, graded us as ‘inadequate’ in our ability to respond to the public, protect vulnerable people and strategic planning. We were moved into HMICFRS Engage oversight in 2022.
As I approach the end of my first year in office as Chief Constable of Wiltshire Police, I wanted to share my reflections on the progress we have made in improving the service we deliver. I have given you, our communities, a regular read-out on how we are performing against the improvement requirements set by HMICFRS when they placed us in the ENGAGE process 2022.

My operational priorities of Safer Public Spaces, Violence and Burglary will continue to frame the improvements we need to make in support of delivering the Police and Crime Plan.
Our collective focus on making these improvements is driven by one thing –
Keeping Wiltshire Safe
