PC Lee Prince had earlier been found guilty of common assault following a trial at City of London Court in March.
The court heard how he verbally abused and physically assaulted a 17-year-old boy during an incident in White Beam Court in Swindon - whilst he was on duty.
The officer was sentenced to 16 weeks’ imprisonment suspended for 12 months.
He must also complete 240 hours of unpaid work and was ordered to pay £775 trial costs, £500 compensation, and a £154 victim surcharge.
PC Prince, who is suspended from duties, will also face an internal gross misconduct investigation.
Wiltshire Police Deputy Chief Constable Mark Cooper said: "The public rightly expect the highest standards of behaviour from our officers - and where it is found that they have fallen short it is right that they are held to account.
"We will not hesitate to robustly apply the law in such cases.
"The public place their trust and confidence in Wiltshire Police and it is imperative that we reflect that in how we expect the highest standards from those within the organisation."
