A man has been found guilty of attempted murder and assaulting an emergency worker in Devizes last summer.
Kubilay Bostanli, 27, of Anzio Road, Devizes, was found guilty following a trial at Winchester Crown Court on January 20.
At around 12.30pm on June 29, 2024, Bostanli was seen to be chasing his victim, a man in his 20s, near Sidmouth Street. He was physically assaulted inside the butchers and then chased to Estcourt Street. When police arrived Bostanli assaulted the officer trying to detain him by pulling her around by her hair.
Bostanli's male victim suffered two stab wounds to his neck, other facial and ear injuries.
DC Jo Newbery from CID said: "This was a sustained and terrifying attack during which the victim fought for his life.
"Kubilay Bostanli used extreme violence against his victim, which was witnessed by a large number of people given the time of day and location of the assault.
"I'd like to thank the victim for his bravery in working with the police, and who medical staff say is lucky to still be here.
"I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank the three members of public who helped to provide first aid to the victim."
Bostanli is due to be sentenced at Winchester Crown Court on April 4.
