A number of people have been charged and remanded for various offences following excellent work by our Local Policing Tasking Team (LPTT) in Swindon over the past month.
The Swindon and County LPTTs were formally set up in July this year to support the local policing response and target priority offenders, high harm offences and high-risk suspects.
They also focus on Force priorities to reduce violence and serious harm, and tackle crimes that matter most to our local communities.
In the last month, the team has been conducting frequent proactive patrols to actively target drug dealing with communities, as well as responding to local intelligence and intelligence developed within the department.
This has led to several arrests and charges for some of our most high harm offences, such as grievous bodily harm with intent, possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, dangerous driving. A man has also been charged with numerous shoplifting offences which he was outstanding for.
DC Will Saunders of the Swindon LPTT said: “I want to highlight just how valuable community intelligence is in enabling us to conduct our day-to-day work.
“The Swindon and County LPTTs rely on information from the public so we know where to target our patrols, areas to target, what is causing our communities the most concern at the moment, and so on.
“If there is anything that is concerning you, please don’t hesitate to report it on 101.
“We will continue to work within our communities in both uniform and plain clothes operations to deliver the Force priorities of Safer Public Spaces and Violence Reduction."
