Officers investigating Hullavington burglary locate stolen vehicle in Coventry

Officers investigating a burglary in Hullavington in which three high value vehicles were stolen have located one of the vehicles nearly 100 miles away.

The County Burglary Team received a report of a burglary in the village on May 3 – car keys were stolen from an address and an Audi S3, a BMW x3 and a Volkswagen California were all stolen.

The Volkswagen was located crashed not far from the scene and recovered, however, the Audi and BMW remained outstanding.

An investigation was launched by the team and extensive enquiries led officers to an area in Coventry where they located the stolen Audi on the forecourt of a garage on cloned plates.

Further enquiries were carried out at the garage which resulted in officers uncovering what is believed to be an illegal garage known as a 'chop shop', where a further two partially stripped stolen vehicles were located plus a significant amount of car parts believed to have been stripped from other stolen vehicles. Enquiries have established this particular garage has been directly linked to the theft of a further two high value vehicles.

 The team also located a stolen Ford Fiesta ST on cloned number plates and the total value of stolen property located is suspected to be worth well in excess of £150,000.

 PC Jack Williams, from the County Burglary Team, said: “Thanks to the quick reactions of the County Burglary Team we were able to locate and recover a high value stolen vehicle prior to it inevitably being broken down into parts and sold on.

"We were also able to disrupt a serious organised crime group and a joint investigation will continue with West Midlands Police."
