A man who failed to stop for police after a vehicle was sighted travelling at speed in Trowbridge has been arrested.
Officers spotted an Audi A4 travelling at 60mph along County Way shortly after midnight this morning. (22/5)
When officers followed the vehicle it continued to reach speeds of 70mph in a 40mph area and failed to stop for police.
The driver continued onto Yeoman Way and Sleightholme Court before he was seen to decamp leaving the vehicle to roll into a garden. The driver made off down an alleyway on to Frome Road.
A man in his 30s from Trowbridge was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, drink driving, drug driving, dangerous driving and possession of criminal property.
He was taken to Melksham custody for questioning and has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
