Open letter: Introduction of the Wiltshire Police Strategic Plan 2024/27 and Plans on a Page 2024

Dear Police and Crime Commissioner, Philip Wilkinson,

I write to you today to introduce the Wiltshire Police Strategic Plan 2024/27.

This plan is the roadmap which outlines our key strategic priorities and deliverables for the next three years to ensure we continue to deliver against your Police and Crime Plan and support our improvement journey through the HMICFRS Engage process and beyond to reach ‘Outstanding’.

In addition, I attach for your information the 2024 in-year delivery plans across all of the Force executive command areas – known as our ‘Plans on a Page’.

This information has been published internally to officers, staff and volunteers, will be published on the Wiltshire Police website and also provided to partners and community members across Wiltshire and Swindon.

Since my appointment in February 2023, Wiltshire Police has worked closely with colleagues, the OPCC, partners and communities to understand current views of how policing is delivered and where we need to improve. This feedback is reflected in the Strategic Plan and the in-year deliverables.

The Wiltshire Police Strategic plan focuses on delivery across five key areas:

• Serving our communities, keeping them safe and preventing crime
• Delivering high standards of crime investigation and service for victims
• Delivering an efficient, effective, affordable and sustainable police operating model, configured to meet demand
• To embed a culture of organisational learning and continuous improvement
• Attract, retain, develop and inspire our workforce, supported by high standards of leadership and professionalism.

These plans will, of course, be underpinned by some critical success factors. Policing resources must be in the right place at the right time with the right skills, with strong and robust partnerships and relationships. The plan will be reviewed annually in order to reflect any changing needs aligned to your Police and Crime Plan, the needs of our communities, and any emerging issues to ensure we are Keeping Wiltshire Safe.
