Two people have been arrested following an assault on a man in Swindon.
An investigation was launched when the 77-year-old man sustained a head injury after challenging a group of young people in relation to their behaviour in Greenhill Road, Moredon.
The incident happened at approximately 9.20pm on Monday (22/07).
Following an appeal for witnesses and further information, we are pleased to confirm that two 17-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of section 18 GBH.
Both males have since been released with strict bail conditions.
Swindon Chief Insp Carly Nesbitt said officers will be carrying out increased patrols in the area in the coming weeks.
“In response to a number of reports of anti-social behaviour in the Greenhill Road area, we will have an increased policing presence and would urge any residents who may have concerns to speak with our officers when out and about,” she said.
“This particular incident will no doubt have caused concern within the community – please be reassured that we take reports of this nature seriously and our enquiries are ongoing.
“We’d like to thank the members of the community who responded to our initial appeal for information – this significantly helped us progress our enquiries and make these two arrests.”
The victim has since been released from hospital.
