The 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons has been charged in connection with an incident at the home of an elderly man in Snarlton Lane on January 23.
Jewellery and cash were stolen during the burglary.
The teenager was remanded in custody and appeared at Salisbury Magistrates Court on Friday. He is next due to appear at the same court on February 6.
A 16-year-old boy from Melksham was also arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
PC Simon Margetts from our Burglary Team said: “This incident understandably caused upset within the local community so I would like to reassure residents that we take reports of this nature extremely seriously will always conduct a thorough investigation to identify suspects.
"I hope news that that one person has now been charged and will appear before the courts is reassuring to the local community. Our investigation will continue.”
