Almost two dozen arrests were made as part of the festive campaign Operation Dasher – our proactive initiative targeting antisocial behaviour in Swindon across the Christmas period.
Dedicated Swindon officers spent the month of December conducting high visibility patrols across the town centre and working with our partners from the council and Pubwatch to ensure that shoppers and businesses were able to enjoy a safe and merry experience festive experience.
Across the month:
Acting Inspector Winter, based in Swindon, said: “For the past month, officers have been conducting high visibility patrols and engaging with members of the public and businesses as part of Operation Dasher.
“It’s been a successful month with many arrests made and crimes dealt with, while several people who featured in our ‘Wanted this Winter’ campaign were located with the support of the public.
“The frequent and effective use of Section 35 dispersal orders in the town has also enabled us to target and reduce antisocial behaviour, nuisance begging and thefts.
“Officers also submitted a significant number of intelligence reports which allows our response and neighbourhood teams to build a full picture of what is happening on the ground in Swindon.
“I hope this work has led to an enjoyable and safe shopping and leisure experience for people visiting the town.
“Although Op Dasher has now ended, creating Safer Public Spaces remains a Force priority and our Swindon officers continue to be out on regular patrols in hot spot areas in the town.
“Please feel free to approach them with any concerns that you have or any issues that are affecting you.”
