We have arrested two people on suspicion of various offences following a high-speed pursuit and tactical stop in Swindon in the early hours of this morning.
At around 10.30pm last night, officers on patrol sighted a red Audi S3 thought to be used for drug dealing in the Eldene estate which reacted to their presence, making off at high speed.
The Force’s Roads Policing Unit and Armed Response made their way to the area, sighting the vehicle on Dorcan Way, heading towards Greenbridge.
While following the vehicle, it suddenly made off, overtaking a lorry, and driving at more than 80mph in a 40mph limit.
It then led officers on a pursuit through Dorcan, Walcot and Eldene, driving at more than 100mph in a 40mph zone, through red lights at more than 90mph, on the wrong side of roundabouts and driving through residential estates with its lights turned off.
Officers in pursuit executed a sting at the end of Eldene Drive, puncturing two tyres, before bringing the pursuit to an end with a successful tactical stop near Piccadilly roundabout.
Two people were then arrested.
A man in his 40s from Swindon was arrested on suspicious of dangerous driving and failing to stop for police. Following a search of the vehicle, he was further arrested for intent to supply class A drugs.
A woman in her 30s from Swindon was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.
They remain in custody for questioning.
