A man was arrested on suspicion of drug and weapon offences following a warrant in Chippenham yesterday (8/8).
Officers from Chippenham, Calne and Corsham's Neighbourhood Policing Team, Response and Local Policing Tasking Team were assisted by the dog section to execute the drugs warrant at an address in Clifton Close, Chippenham.
Searches were conducted at the address with the assistance of Police Dog Reggie and his handler, and a large quantity of class A and B drugs were located, as well as a baton and Katana, and materials to produce a potential cannabis growth.
PC Paul Croft said: “Warrants of this nature are often made possible thanks to the intelligence provided to us from the local community and we would urge anybody concerned about drug supply in their neighbourhood to contact us immediately.
“We know that drug supply is often associated with violence, weapons and other criminality and it can have a particularly negative impact on a neighbourhood.
“We hope news of this warrant provides reassurance to local residents that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated.”
A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
He was taken to Melksham custody for questioning and has since been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.
