We are appealing for dash cam footage or witnesses after two boys threw a rock from an overbridge in Chippenham yesterday morning (25/05), smashing the windscreen of a lorry driving under the bridge.
The incident took place at around 7.50am on the A350 West Cepen Way, at the footbridge near Chippenham Rugby Football Club.
The driver of the lorry was fortunately able to maintain control of his vehicle and has been left shaken but thankfully uninjured.
We are appealing for anybody who was driving along that road at that time and may have dashcam footage of anybody on the footbridge to please get in touch with us.
PC Gemma Henson said: “This was an incredibly reckless and dangerous thing to do and it is incredibly fortunate that the boys’ actions didn’t lead to a collision.
“That stretch of the road is the national speed limit so any kind of collision at that speed could easily be fatal.”
