A man has been fined and banned from the roads for almost two years after being caught drink driving.
David Leslie James, 53, of Farleigh Close, Chippenham, pleaded guilty at a hearing at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on July 5.
At around 9.30pm on May 29 this year, officers were alerted to a possible drink driver in Chippenham.
James was located on Queen’s Crescent, Chippenham, parked at the side of the road and with his head under the raised bonnet.
He was suspected of drinking alcohol and was breathalysed, giving a reading of 90 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath – more than twice the 35ug limit.
James was arrested and taken to custody.
At the subsequent hearing, James pleaded guilty and was fined £807, required to pay a £323 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
He was also disqualified from driving for 23 months.
