Two more teenagers have been arrested following a violent disorder in Royal Wootton Bassett on New Year’s Day.
Two 14-year-old boys were arrested yesterday evening (02/01) and in the early hours of this morning on suspicion of violent disorder.
One of the boys remains in custody in Swindon while the other has been released on bail.
The arrests are in connection with an incident in Ruxley Close, Royal Wootton Bassett, at around 4pm on January 1, when a 15-year-old boy suffered knife wounds.
He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
He and three other teenage boys – two 14-year-olds and a 16-year-old – were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.
They have all been bailed while our enquiries continue.
A 23-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been bailed.
A/DS Natalie Stride of Swindon CID said: “We understand that this is an incredibly concerning incident for the local community and we are taking it very seriously.
“There is no place for incidents of this kind within our community and I know those living in Royal Wootton Bassett will be upset by the ages of those thought to be involved.
“We would like to reassure residents that we are conducting a robust investigation and you will continue to see an increased police presence in Royal Wootton Bassett while we continue to conduct our enquiries.”
