A man was reported to court after a vehicle failed to stop for police in Swindon shortly after midnight this morning. (23/1)
Officers attempted to stop a Renault Kadjar in Westcott Place but the driver made off at speeds in excess of 50mph in a 30mph zone, travelling the wrong way along a one way street.
The occupant decamped from the vehicle near William Street, causing the vehicle to crash into a wall.
He made off on foot and was chased by an RPU officer and then detained by a dog handler.
The man who is aged in his 20s from Swindon was reported to court for failing to stop, dangerous driving, driving without a licence, no insurance and possession of a class B drug.
The vehicle, which was a hire car, was seized as part of ongoing enquiries.
