A man has died following a collision on the M4 between junction 16 and 15 yesterday evening (09/12).
At around 6.30pm, we received a report of a pedestrian in the carriageway at the roundabout of junction 16 for Royal Wootton Bassett.
The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, entered the motorway on the eastbound carriageway on foot and was struck by passing vehicles. He was declared dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
Both carriageways have now reopened.
Our enquiries are ongoing to ascertain the facts surrounding this incident.
Any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam footage is asked to contact the serious collision investigation team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 237 of yesterday’s date.
Alternatively, they can contact the team directly at [email protected].
