Yesterday evening (30/04), officers out on patrol in the town stopped two men in a car and carried out a search.
They located around £1,000 in cash, as well as a large quantity of cocaine and cannabis, and a knife.
The pair were arrested and their home addresses searched, with further drugs, cash and drugs paraphernalia also seized.
A 35-year-old man from Chippenham was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
A 20-year-old man from Calne was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
They have both been interviewed and released under investigation while our enquiries continue.
Inspector Louis McCoy, from the local policing team, said: “This was fantastic proactive policing which has allowed us to not only arrest two people, but also get illegal drugs and weapons off our streets.
“Our community policing teams rely on intelligence from the public, so if you have concerns about any sort of criminality, including drug dealing, in your area, then please let us know.”
