Police were called alongside the fire service at 4.30pm yesterday (19/3) following reports that the centre in St Philips Road was well alight. Officers attended the scene to assist with road closures while the incident was dealt with.
The cause of the fire is not yet known however, as part of our enquiries, we have arrested two teenagers on suspicion of arson. Both youths, aged 15 and 16 and from the local area, have since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
We’d urge anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area prior to the fire, to call 101 and quote crime reference number 54220028379.
Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
