Man arrested after serious assault in Swindon town centre

Police were called to a disorder in The Parade, in Swindon town centre, at around 3pm today (24/07).
A man in his 30s has been taken to hospital with a serious neck injury, but his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
A 30-year-old man has been arrested and is in custody, and police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

We received a call shortly after 3pm today (24/07) due to a disorder in The Parade.
When emergency services arrived at the scene they found a man in his 30s with a serious injury to his neck. He has been taken to hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Officers carried out a full search of the local area and have arrested a 30-year-old local man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He is currently in police custody at Gablecross Police Station.
Detective Inspector Rachel Hardy, from Swindon CID, said: “I know this incident will have caused concern amongst the local community, particularly given that it occurred during a busy Sunday afternoon in the town centre.
“I am pleased to report that we have made a swift arrest and now have a suspect in custody.
“Our enquiries are ongoing, and we would urge anyone who witnessed the incident and who has not yet spoken to police, to please make contact.”
