The incident happened late into the evening of Thursday (27/01) - detectives are especially interested in the hours from 10pm onwards, extending through to the early hours of Friday morning (28/01).
The victim, a man in his 50s, was found injured on Beechcroft Road hours later. The victim sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital at this time.
Det Insp Rachel Hardy said: “This was a nasty incident which has left the victim with some very serious injuries which are really shocking. He is still receiving treatment for these injuries in hospital and has been left extremely shaken up.
“We have been conducting extensive enquiries to piece together a timeline of exactly what happened and we now have CCTV images of a man we would like to speak to in connection with the incident.
“I ask you to please take a look at the photos closely - do you recognise this man? Were you in the Meadowcroft area at any point overnight on January 27-28 and did you see anybody acting suspiciously?
“We would also urge anybody with any dashcam footage or CCTV in the area that has not yet had contact with detectives to contact us as quickly as possible.
“If you can help in any way at all with our investigation, please get in touch as a matter of urgency.”
