We received a call at approximately 4.30pm reporting that an Infiniti Q30 had been stolen from Victoria Road after the driver left the keys in the car whilst making a delivery.
Officers from our Roads Policing Unit spoke with the owner and descriptions were given of the vehicle and the suspect.
Armed response officers who were in the area located the vehicle in Belle Vue Road and a number of items from within the vehicle were located discarded nearby.
They arrested a man in his 50s on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owners consent and theft from a vehicle.
He was taken to custody at Gablecross and has since been released under investigation while enquiries are ongoing.
A/Insp Will Ayres said: “This was excellent team work by specialist officers who were in the vicinity and able to swiftly locate a suspect and recover the vehicle.
“Enquiries will continue in relation to this incident and we’d urge anyone who spotted any suspicious behaviour in the area of Victoria Road around 4.30pm yesterday to get in touch.”
Call 101 and quote crime reference number 54220130580.
