Six sentenced for £197,000 fraud and money laundering scheme
Six people have been sentenced for their part in a £197,170 money laundering and fraud scheme. The group all appeared at Swindon Crown Court today (18/10/19). Daniel Robertson, 29, of Thorney Park, Wroughton, had previously pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation and to making or supplying articles for use in fraud. He was sentenced to four years and one month imprisonment.

Former partner of man jailed for 11 years opens up about the abuse she suffered
The former partner of a Swindon man who has been jailed for 11 years has spoken out about the systematic, violent, sexual and psychological abuse she suffered during their relationship. Edward Booth, 27, of Corfe Road, Toothill, was sentenced last month after a jury found him guilty of two counts of sexual assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. As well as serving an 11-year prison sentence, Booth was given a restraining order preventing him from contacting his victim, and was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.
Almost 750 people arrested as part of UK-wide County Lines action
Figures released today (18/10), show that a total of 743 people were arrested during a national intensification week where police forces across the country targeted major drug gangs (7 - 13 October). In Wiltshire, approximately 50 officers were involved in Operation Jetway to tackle County Lines which saw a total of 63 people arrested across just five days. Detective Inspector Paul Franklin said: "We arrested a total of 63 people during our week-long campaign which not only shows the amount of drug gang activity going on in the county but also the concerted effort being made by Wiltshire Police to close these lines down.
Indecent exposure in Swindon - appeal for information
We're appealing for witnesses following an indecent exposure in Swindon yesterday (16/10). At approximately 3.30pm, a man approached a group of four girls aged between eight and 12, in the cemetery/green area off Kent Road. The man exposed himself to the girls and the girls then ran off and told an adult nearby.

The family of Andraya Lyons, who was killed by her partner at her home in Swindon, in 2016, are sharing their story once again in a bid to help raise awareness of domestic abuse. "Andraya would bend over backwards to help anyone. She was living on a shoestring but she would have given anyone the last pound in her purse if they needed it." Gemma Webb says her older sister Andraya Lyons was the kindest person and the most loving mum to her two young sons.
