Why do you need to recruit a whole new ICT department?
The Policing Vision 2025 is driving us in a different direction and we need to comply with national policing ICT requirements. Moving away from our current partnership with Wiltshire Council means we have to create our own in house team.

Without going into role specifics, we will ensure everyone will get the training they need for their role and we are committed to developing our teams to help set up them up for success.
What are you looking for in a candidate?
We are looking for applicants who are driven, customer focused, flexible and above all, team players who want to make a difference to their communities.
You will help us establish and improve our ICT customer services to officers, staff and the public. The team will support frontline policing in our communities from our ICT hub based in our Devizes Headquarters and our field operations throughout the county.

Will you be doing apprenticeships?
Yes, once we have created the initial department and phases one, two and three are complete. This is likely to be in Autumn 2020. Keep an eye on our recruitment pages.
What date do phase two jobs open?
Phase two opens on Monday 2 March 2020 and closes on Sunday 22 March 2020.
When will the interviews be for phase one?
The interviews are likely to be mid-March, dates will be sent to successful applicants after the paper sift process.
What is a likely start date for the roles in phase one?
No specific dates have been identified yet. It depends on interviews and vetting time scales.
Where will the ICT Department be based?
Primarily at our headquarters site in Devizes, but we do offer flexible working. It depends on your role, as some roles will involve working out of various stations across the county.
If I resign from my current role, my resignation period could be anywhere from 3-6 months. Would you still consider me as a candidate?
We will work with successful candidates to ensure a smooth transition into their new role, taking into account required notice periods considering the time allowed for vetting clearance.
Will the roles be required to work 24/7?
We are a 24/7 operation and ICT will provide cover aligned to our policing needs. This will include on call cover for key technical roles and 7am - 7pm Monday to Friday shift pattern in the Service Desk. Details of these arrangements for specific roles are available on our website.
Do you have any Cyber Security roles?
The National Enabling Programme for Policing which we are delivering in Wiltshire includes the National Monitoring Centre which provide 24/7 cyber capability for all UK Police Forces. This is a national team who will work with our local experts to ensure our assets are protected.
