Our LGBTQ+ Staff Support Network is an active group of energetic, passionate police officers and staff from all ranks, who get together to discuss all aspects of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender life, at work and in the community.

We work within the Force and with external agencies to raise awareness and tackle issues like homophobia, biphobia and transphobia. We also get involved in fun community based events, such as PRIDE and other key dates in the LGBT+ calendar.

Wiltshire Police is an excellent and inclusive place to work for LGBT+ people - a message we work hard to get across to local communities.

What we do

Our Network meets regularly in a relaxed, safe and open environment to talk about upcoming LGBT+ events, topical issues and address any concerns.  Our formal structure consists of a Chair, Vice Chair and eight Committee Members.

In summary our work consists of:

  • Building on the relationship, general perception and levels of trust of the police with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people
  • Sharing information such as support groups and good practice
  • Raising awareness of issues faced within LGBT+ communities
  • Supporting LGBT staff in Wiltshire Police.
  • Promoting hate crime reporting
  • Networking with LGBT+ people within our organisation and the communities we serve.

More importantly, we aim to have fun while celebrating all our differences and help to allow people to be the person they were born to be.
