Revenge porn is when someone deliberately aims to cause distress or harm to someone else by sharing explicit images or videos of them without their consent.

It can happen in a number of different ways. This could include uploading images to the internet or social media, sending images or videos via text, email or instant messaging or by simply showing a physical image or video to someone.

It usually occurs when an ex-partner or someone known to the victim shares the images but it can be committed by strangers as well.

Revenge porn is a criminal offence under the Criminal Justice and Courts Act (2015).
