Two men were arrested for drug offences in Trowbridge at the weekend following a foot chase by officers.
At approximately 8.10pm on Saturday 9 September, officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the Tesco car park, County Way, following concerns the occupants had been involved in drug supply.
One of the occupants of the vehicle decamped and gave chase when he saw officers. He ran along the footpath by the river Biss and into Biss Meadows, a wooded area on the riverbank. He was eventually detained.
During this time, a search was carried out of the vehicle the man was believed to have been in and a large amount of cash was located. The vehicle smelt strongly of cannabis.
When the man was taken to custody, officers found suspected class A drugs and further cash. He was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A and B drugs and money laundering.
A second man who had also been in the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class B drugs and possession of class B, and money laundering.
Both were taken to Melksham custody and have since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Anyone who saw the vehicle, or the men in the area, should call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
