On Monday 2nd November, Michael ALCOCK, born 07/07/81, was sentenced to an indeterminate sentence in prison, with a recommendation that he should serve a minimum of 5.5 years, before consideration be given to parole, following his conviction of rape committed at Yatesbury, Wiltshire on 03/12/08, against a 71 year old victim.

At the conclusion of the sentencing, Detectibe Inspector Matt DAVEY said, " Our thoughts at this time are with the victim and her family. Now that the case is concluded and Michael Alcock has been sentenced, we hope that this will provide closure and enable her to move on with her life.

The investigation team has great respect and admiration for the victim for showing considerable courage throughout this investigation. Her fortitude in giving evidence in court and having to relive this terrible ordeal was critical in securing a successful outcome.

I hope that this case and the sentence imposed will encourage victims of sexual abuse to come forward knowing that they will be taken seriously and that they will be supported throughout the judicial process.

Wiltshire Police are dedicated to bringing dangerous offenders to justice and I would like to thank everybody that has been involved in this investigation.
