Consultation with the local community is at the heart of successful neighbourhood policing and it is this engagement that will determine the priorities for the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) and partner agencies. As a result each NPT has identified the three main priorities* for their neighbourhood and these have been listed below along with follow up actions by the police: - CYCLING ON FOOTPATHS - CRICKLADE ROAD
We will be carrying out increased patrols to get the message across to cyclists that cycling on the foot paths will not tolerated. - SPEEDING - GYPSY LANE 30 MPH
The local Community Beat Manager is conducting random speed checks on Gypsy Lane at various points along the road. The Highways Agency have installed two speed signs that flash when they detect excess speed in both directions. Drivers caught speeding will be given speed awareness workshops if the criteria are met. For more serious breaches, points and fines and in the worst case will be Summonsed. - ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR - CHAPEL STREET TOILETS
Sadly this is an under reported problem with many witnesses turning a blind eye to what they see. The Police are making high visibility patrols at the target times for these offenders. The council have reduced the opening hours of the toilets and have funded a sign designed by the tasking team which is now in place. Please report suspicious activity!Offenders will be dealt with robustly. *A priority may be for a certain area of your NPT. The same priority in different areas will only appear once.
