Wiltshire Police has a strong ethos of equality and diversity both within the organisation and to the service we provide. We are committed to creating a police service that is representative of the communities we serve, and believe that in this way the Force will be better able to reach the aim to have:
"Trained and motivated staff who - ...think, deliver and
promote equality and fairness to the public and each other"
It is therefore our continuing intention to:
- identify environments where 'under representation' exists
- set appropriate targets
- review policy, processes and perceptions in order to dismantle barriers
- develop initiatives that promote equality and fairness both 'internally' and 'externally', that further the Police Recruitment, Retention and Progression Strategy
- monitor/evaluate development
All members of the Force have responsibility to support these actions, but the Force has also provided the specific role of Equality & Diversity Officer to implement and to be a coordinating point for a variety of initiatives.
We would encourage all members of under-represented groups to attend our awareness evenings for Specials, PCSO's or Police Officer roles - members of your family / friends are welcome to come along. For civilian roles you can also contact our Equality & Diversity Officer for general recruitment and selection process information.
Our Equality & Diversity Officer is in contact with different communities to conduct talks and provide information on career opportunities, but if you have not been approached yet and would like to be, please do not hesitate to contact Tanya.
If you would like further information about this subject, the Wiltshire Police Equality & Diversity officer is:
