What is in it for employers? PDF Print E-mail

Special Constables are ordinary people who do an extraordinary thing - they give up their leisure time to help their community. After a day at work or at the weekend, they put on their uniform and assist regular colleagues in helping to keep Wiltshire safe.

Employers are special too, because they support and encourage their staff to become involved in their local communities, which of course includes local businesses.

Encouraging and supporting staff to become involved also helps meet corporate community responsibility values.

One such employer is Motorola

"Motorola has an active programme of community involvement: we encourage our staff to contribute as part of our philosophy of enhancing the vitality of the communities where we do business. Wiltshire's Special Constabulary provides an excellent opportunity for our staff to build their confidence and learn valuable skills in dealing with people and communicating in a wide range of circumstances while providing a vital service in the community. The abilities and self-assurance they gain as a Special Constable supports their Motorola training and is a great help to our staff developing their careers".

Scott Morrison, Senior Director, GSM and UMTS Engineering & General Manager

If an employee were to be recruited, we would also ask that their employer support them by granting an agreed number of days per month or year to allow the employee to serve as a Special Constable during normal working hours.

If you would like more information we would be happy to arrange a presentation, arrange a visit from a serving Special Constable, provide supporting literature or recruitment stands at business events.
