Before you start the recruitment process, ask yourself the following questions. If you respond positively to them, then you are ready to apply.

  1. Why do I honestly want to become a Special Constable?
  2. What research have I done and who have I spoken to?
  3. Am I prepared to give up a significant number of week nights and Saturdays during my initial training?
  4. How much time can I offer my community? (Specials must commit a minimum of 16 hours per month)
  5. As a Police Officer will my family and friends treat me any differently and if so, am I ok with that?
  6. Are my family and friends in agreement with what I want to do?
  7. Have I spoken to my employer/place of education and discussed what support they may be able to offer me?
  8. Am I really prepared to live my life commensurate with the values of Wiltshire Police?
