Swindon Police are appealing for information following a shooting late last night in Spruce Court.

At 2310 hours on Saturday 16th January 2010 Police were alerted by Ambulance control that a man had been injured by shooting in Spruce Court, Pinehurst, Swindon.

Officers attended the location and enquiries have indicated that several shots appear to have been fired into a parked vehicle. As a result a 24 year old local man has received a wound to his right shoulder which is not thought to be life threatening. The injured man was taken to the Great Western Hospital where he is undergoing surgery.

There continues to be police activity in the area, and Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw or heard anything to make contact with them on 0845 408 7000, or crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.

A major investigation headed by Detective Chief Inspector Sean Memory is underway, and a short time ago a local 20 year old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with this incident and has been taken to Gablecross Police Station.

Offences of this nature are extremely rare within Swindon and Wiltshire and additional officers will remain in the area for the rest of the day.
