Wiltshire Police are not currently recruiting transferees.

The oldest county Force in the country, Wiltshire Police was formed in 1839 and has a unique place in the history of policing. The Force is responsible for policing the county of Wiltshire and borough of Swindon with some 2000 police officers and police staff, plus around 250 special constables.

The Force is committed to making Wiltshire the safest county in the country and serves a population of 635,000 people across 1,346 square miles.

Wiltshire Police is led by T/Chief Constable Pat Geenty, who is supported by a team of three chief officers. The day-to-day policing services are delivered across the County area, commanded by a Chief Superintendent supported by specialist units. Response teams parade from four hubs, namely Swindon, Salisbury, Trowbridge and Chippenham. The Force has 27 Neighbourhood Policing Teams, working with partner agencies to ensure the people of Wiltshire are kept safe, satisfied and confident with the service they receive.

We are always interested in talking informally to potential transferees and we keep details of potential applicants on file when we are not recruiting. Please call 101 Ext 7202314 for further details, or contact the HR Business Centre at Hr.businesscentre@wiltshire.pnn.police.uk.

When we are recruiting the process includes an application form and interview (both are pass/fail assessments), after which a provisional offer is made. Final appointment is dependent upon passing our vetting procedures, media checks, references, medical, fitness tests, finance checks, drugs tests and PSD checks.

Wiltshire Police require that all transferees do so from Home Office forces and that they have passed probation. Re-joiners must have worked for a Home Office force within the last five years.

Whilst individual needs are taken into account, postings are decided upon based on the needs of the Force at the time.
