This is a vehicle holding point for vehicles that would not be required for use at the scene. Care is taken to ensure that access is available for vehicles to enter and exit with ease.

Often various personnel from various agencies arrive at intervals in separate vehicles. This leads to a mass of vehicles. Following the Kegworth air crash in the late 1980's the motorway was used to park vehicles from all the responding agencies, but there were so many the motorway was blocked for a considerable time as the vehicles could not be removed. In addition many Blue lights were left on making it confusing to tell where the Forward Control Point was.

If the parking area is some way from the incident then some form of transport may be needed to be provided to access the actual site.
