About the Ports unit
The Wiltshire Police Ports Unit was established in April 2000. One of the responsibilities of the unit is to police all the non-designated airfields in the county and to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, in particular the 'Terrorism Act 2000'.

The unit is also interested in obtaining intelligence and information concerning all aspects of crime, including offences of smuggling, contraband and illegal immigration.

Flight notification form
Under the Terrorism Act 2000, it is a requirement of the aircraft Pilot/Captain to complete this document in respect of all flights to and from the Channel islands, Isle of Man, Eire and Northern Ireland. It must be submitted for police authorization no less than 12 hours prior to the flight. It is an offence to fail to comply with this regulation.
