Public Protection

Wiltshire Police’s Public Protection Department (PPD) works with statutory and voluntary agencies to investigate offences involving vulnerable victims. We work to make sure the victims are safe and provide information about other specialist organisations who can help support for them in the longer term.

Officers and police staff investigators in the PPD receive additional training to enable them to get the best evidence from people who, because of age, disability or particular vulnerabilities may find it difficult to talk about what has happened to them.

PPD Officers and Staff investigate offences of child abuse and exploitation, Domestic Abuse, including Honour Based Abuse and offences involving vulnerable adults.

If you think someone is imminently at risk please contact us on 999, if you have concerns for someone but it is not an emergency dial 101.
